Jeffrey S. Gilbert
Jeffrey Scott Gilbert earned his Bachelor of Arts with distinction from Ithaca College in 1980, majoring in economics with a minor in mathematics. Upon graduation, Jeff attended Emory University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate. He has practiced in Atlanta since 1983. He has been married to his wife, Kathleen, for more than two decades. Kathleen is also an Emory lawyer currently serving as Deputy Attorney General for the State of Georgia.
Upon graduation from Emory Law, Jeff immediately went to work as a litigator in the firm of Oliver Dickens & Associates, a captive defense firm for Travelers Insurance Companies. This job was invaluable for a number of reasons, says Jeff. First, it was definitely "baptism by fire." After a short time, Jeff was trying eight to ten jury trials a year in both state and federal courts. Additionally, "I had a unique opportunity to learn the inner workings of the insurance industry." Lastly, Oliver Dickens was an outstanding mentor, both in litigation practice and in management. After five years of advocating for the proverbial "devil," Jeff made the transition to representing injured people in both civil litigation and the workers' compensation arena. He has practiced on his own for the past 18 years and has devoted himself to making a meaningful difference in the lives of regular folks severely injured through the negligence of others.
Jeff is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Association of Attorneys for Justice (formerly the American Trial Lawyers Association), the prestigious Southern Trial Lawyers Association, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Atlanta Bar Association.
